The Roaring Forties Club

Our Heritage

The Roaring Forties Club was founded in 1981 in Melbourne, Australia and connects like-minded people with their exceptional life stories, a passion for AFL and sports in general, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit.

Originally, the Club was limited to 40 members born in the 1940s, hence the name and logo.  Today, those restrictions have been eased with a number of younger members.

Our Purpose

Over the years the Club has developed a series of social events, both formal and informal, that take place every year.

They include intimate pub lunches, golf days, the AFL footy tipping contest and the Club’s signature event – the Post Grand Final Lunch.

Some 650 sports lovers enjoy the PGFL program - current and former AFL stars, video highlights from the season, top-class entertainers and photos with the Premiership Cup, while bringing the AFL season to a fitting close.
